MEET THE COACHES
Meet our topnotch coaching staff with over 25 years of combined experience. Read their bios to learn more about their experience and commitment to the game of softball.
Kaycee Taylor brings over 15 years of experience to Lake Travis High School playing and coaching softball at high school and collegiate levels. Most recently she was the head coach at Wichita Falls High School for 2 years. From 2011- 2019 she served in multiple coaching roles from graduate assistant at Midwestern State to assistant coach at Howard College, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, St. Edwards University and Pittsburg State University in Kansas.
Taylor was a highly decorated player at Angelo State University from 2007-2011 where she was named to the NFCA All South Central Region first team four times. In 2007 and 2010 she earned NFCA First Team All American honors and was a Daktronics Third Team All American selection in 2011. She helped lead the team to two NCAA DII National Championship finals and was selected to the All-Tournament team in 2010.
A native of Carrollton, TX, Taylor earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University in 2011 and her Masters of Education in 2013 from Midwestern State University.
Coach Mia Hignojos is entering her third year at Lake Travis High School where she serves as the Freshman Volleyball and Assistant Softball coaches. Prior to coaching, she attended the University of New Mexico where she was a four-year letterwinner in softball and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Planning and Design.
She ended her Lobo career with Most Valuable Player, and Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Hignojos was also named Academic All-Mountain West and earned MWC Academic All-Conference honors.
Coach Hignojos moved to Austin from Odessa to pursue her passion for coaching and the opportunity to continue teaching life lessons in the classroom and through sports.
Assistant Coach Waddell is also the Assistant Offensive Line Coach for Lake Travis High School. A native of Nevada, Coach Waddell brings over 10 years of experience in secondary schools teaching and coaching most recently at Community ISD and Wylie ISD.
Coach Waddell earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Arkansas in 2013 and his Med in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas in 2015.
